Silvery and sun-loving, this hardy perennial thrives along the northern shores of the Mediterranean, where dry hillsides and sea air shape its character. A member of the mint family, Sage grows as a small shrub with soft, velvety leaves and pale blossoms that draw bees in warm weather. Its leaves release a deep, resinous aroma when brushed, capturing the essence of sun-warmed earth and coastal herbs.
For centuries, Sage has held a respected place in kitchens and gardens. Ancient Romans gathered it with ceremony, and medieval European households steeped it as a comforting cup or added it to ale. In the teacup, Sage offers a clear amber infusion with a rich, herbaceous taste and a smooth, gently lingering finish that invites slow sipping.
