To burn as incense, carefully light the end of a palo santo stick with a match or lighter. This may take a while for it to catch flame, once it does let it burn until you see a red ember and blow out. A little goes a long way, so light as needed to keep the smoke smoldering. Use a heat-resistant container to place the stick in if you are done with it while it is still smoldering. Burn in a well-ventilated area and do not inhale the smoke.
