Highlights
- Supports bone structure
- Strontium plays roles in maintaining bone density
- Shown to increase the rate of formation of new bone by stimulating osteoblasts, and decreasing the breakdown of existing bone by reducing osteoclast activity
- Studies support its utility for osteoporosis. (Note that Strontium will displace calcium and therefore should be taken separately from dietary or supplemental calcium.)
Recommended Use / Purpose: Strontium supports the function of osteoblasts (cells that form new bone) while reducing the differentiation and activity of osteoclasts (the cells which resorb old bone).
Recommended Dose: For postmenopausal women and men over the age of 50, take 1-2 capsules daily on an empty stomach, at least 2 hours before or after food, calcium or milk (these significantly reduce the absorption of strontium), but ensure that daily calcium intake is adequate. Vitamin D and calcium supplements should also be taken if dietary intake is inadequate or recommended by a healthcare practitioner.
Safety Information: Do not use if you are pregnant, nursing, immobile, over the age of 80, a child or adolescent, taking birth control pills, have a heart and / or circulatory problems. If you have a kidney or blood disorder, consult a healthcare practitioner. Discontinue use and consult a healthcare practitioner in case of rash or hypersensitivity reaction (may be a sign of serious allergic reaction) or for use beyond 6 months.
