This vigorous leafy plant is native to temperate regions of North America and Europe, growing along woodland edges and meadows. The North American variety is commonly called Stinging Nettle, named for the fine hollow hairs that line its stems and leaves. These hairs cause a brief tingling when touched, a natural protection that disappears once carefully handled and dried. Traditionally, it has been cooked like spinach, taken as tea, or had its tougher stalks woven into textiles.

We work exclusively with young Nettle, a choice that defines the character of the tea. At this early stage, the leaves show a lighter green hue, the stalks remain tender, and the taste leans fresh and vegetal rather than bitter. When dried for tea, young Nettle produces a clean green infusion with a grassy aroma and a gently rounded taste.

Recommended Use: About Nettle - This tea brews to a light green hue with a mild, grassy taste and subtle leafy finish. Certified organic nettle is carefully harvested and dried to preserve its natural character and clean, everyday flavor.

Recommended Dose: Use spring or filtered water. Good water is an essential part of brewing a great cup of tea. Relax. Some of the most enjoyable aspects of tea are the calmness and ritual that surround it. Take some time for tea!

  • Quick Brew Directions: Pour freshly boiled water over tea bags in your chosen mug, cover, and let steep 3 to 5 minutes to taste.
  • Full Strength (infusion) Directions: Nettle is best when exposed to high temperatures for only a short period of time. Be sure that your water is at a rolling boil when you pour it over your tea bags. Use one tea bag per cup of boiling water, cover and steep for 7 to 10 minutes.

Ingredients: Organic Nettle Leaf (Urtica dioica).
