The Elder is a legendary tree, often described as magical and sacred in folklore and myth. It has long been associated with rural life, where it’s respected as a generous and familiar tree along field edges and lanes.
The Elder tree produces creamy-white blossoms in late spring that mature into clusters of juicy, purplish black berries by early autumn.
Today, Elderberries are used in juices, pies, desserts, and are especially enjoyed as a full-bodied, fruity tea. We love adding an Elderberry teabag to a pot of Earl Grey or Assam tea for a delicious and comforting pot.
Recommended Use: About Elderberry Tea - Berry-rich and tart with subtle sweetness, this tea brews a vibrant purple cup. Certified organic, it offers a refreshing, fruity taste enjoyed hot or cold.
Recommended Dose: Use spring or filtered water. Good water is an essential part of brewing a great cup of tea. Relax. Some of the most enjoyable aspects of tea are the calmness and ritual that surround it. Take some time for tea!
- Quick Brew Directions: Pour freshly boiled water over tea bags in your chosen mug, cover, and steep 5 to 7 minutes.
- Full Strength (decoction) Directions: When dried, Elderberries get tough and they need to be gently simmered for maximum strength. Use a stainless pot and stainless or wooden utensils. Use one tea bag per cup of water, cover and bring to a gentle boil briefly, then turn down the heat and simmer for 10-20 minutes. Extra tea can be stored in a sealed glass jar for a day or two in the refrigerator.
Ingredients: Organic Elderberry (Sambucus nigra).
