A Cozy, Natural Home Fragrance
Create your own beautiful floral candle with this easy-to-follow recipe. Using non-toxic soy wax, essential oils, and delicate dried flowers, you’ll craft a cozy and eco-friendly candle perfect for cold weather.
This candle not only fills your home with a lovely scent but also adds a charming touch of nature to any room.
Yields: 1x 140mL Weck Jar
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Soy Wax
- 120-150 drops Essential Oils (choose your favorite scents)
- Colourants (optional)
- Dried Flowers or Botanicals (for topping)
Tools & Supplies:
- 6” Candle Wick
- Wick Holder or 2 sticks
- Mold Sealer
- 140mL Weck Jar or similar container
- Pot or double boiler for melting wax
Instructions:
- Melt the Soy Wax: In a pot or double boiler, melt the soy wax over medium to low heat, stirring occasionally until fully melted.
- Prepare the Wick: While the wax melts, secure the bottom metal part of the wick to the center of the jar with mold sealer. Use a wick holder or two sticks to keep the wick centered and upright.
- Add Essential Oils: Once the wax has melted, remove it from heat. Add 120-150 drops of your chosen essential oils for fragrance. Mix well.
- Pour Wax Into the Jar: Carefully pour the melted wax into the prepared jar, ensuring the wick stays centered. Allow the wax to cool and set.
- Add Dried Flowers: Once the candle has fully hardened, add dried flowers to the top for a lovely, natural finish. Secure with the Weck jar lid and label your creation.
- Ready to Use: Before lighting, remove the flowers from the candle. Pour the dried petals onto the jar lid to add ambiance. Keep in mind that dried flowers are flammable, so never light the candle with flowers inside.
Tips:
Essential Oils: Choose natural scents like lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint, or orange. Essential oils dissipate over time, so consider adding a bit more for a stronger scent.
Natural Colorants: Add natural colorants like turmeric, spirulina, activated charcoal, or various shades of mica for a touch of colour. Find them at your local botanical store or online.
