Aromatic & Fizzing Bath Melts
Create a spa-like experience at home with these luxurious and moisturizing bath melts. This recipe is a long-standing favourite from one of our in-house classes.
We like to call these melts “kisses” because of the delightful way they fizz and dance across the surface of the water. Known for their gentle fizz and enchanting aromas, these "bath kisses" not only hydrate your skin with rich cocoa butter but also fill your bath with the soothing scent of essential oils.
Perfect for pampering yourself or gifting to loved ones, these bath melts are as elegant as they are easy to make!
Yields: 6–7 small bath melts (depending on mold size)
Ingredients:
- 3 tbsp (52g) baking soda
- 2 tbsp (27g) citric acid
- 2 tsp (4g) cornstarch
- 3 tbsp (23g) cocoa butter
- 25–30 drops essential oils (e.g., lavender, rose, or orange)
Optional:
- ¼–½ tsp dried ground flowers or botanicals (e.g., lavender, rose petals, or chamomile for decoration)
Tools You'll Need:
- Silicone mold tray (small-sized molds work best)
- Double boiler
Instructions:
- Melt Cocoa Butter: Gently melt the cocoa butter in a double boiler over low heat. Avoid overheating to maintain its nourishing properties.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: Stir in the baking soda, citric acid, and cornstarch. Add a pinch of colorant if desired.
- Add Essential Oils: Remove the mixture from the heat and add your chosen essential oils, mixing thoroughly.
- Pour Into Molds: Stir the mixture to prevent settling, then pour evenly into the silicone mold tray.
- Decorate (Optional): Sprinkle dried flowers on top for a decorative touch.
- Cool Completely: Let the melts cool and harden fully before removing them from the molds.
How to Use:
- Drop one bath melt into a tub of warm water.
- Watch as it fizzes, releasing skin-loving cocoa butter and soothing essential oils.
Safety Tip: Use caution when exiting the tub, as oils can make surfaces slippery.
For easy cleanup, wipe the tub with a cloth or paper towel while it's still warm.
